Infrared vibrational nanocrystallography and nanoimaging

Molecular solids and polymers can form low-symmetry crystal structures that exhibit anisotropic electron and ion mobility in engineered devices or biological systems. The distribution of molecular orientation and disorder then controls the macroscopic material response, yet it is difficult to image with conventional techniques on the nanoscale. We demonstrated a new form of optical nanocrystall...

Phaseless three-dimensional optical nanoimaging.

We propose a method for optical nanoimaging in which the structure of a three-dimensional inhomogeneous medium may be recovered from far-field power measurements. Neither phase control of the illuminating field nor phase measurements of the scattered field are necessary. The method is based on the solution to the inverse scattering problem for a system consisting of a weakly-scattering dielectr...

Mid-infrared nanoimaging and nanoscopy of hemoglobin

Sub diffraction limited infrared absorption imaging of hemoglobin was performed by coupling IR optics with an atomic force microscope. Comparisons between the AFM topography and IR absorption images of micron sized hemoglobin features are presented, along with nanoscale IR spectroscopic analysis of the metalloprotein.

Hard X-ray Phase-Contrast Tomographic Nanoimaging

Synchrotron‐based full‐field tomographic microscopy established itself as a tool for noninvasive investigations. Many beamlines worldwide routinely achieve micrometer spatial resolution while the isotropic 100‐nm barrier is reached and trespassed only by few instruments, mainly in the soft x‐ray regime. We present an x‐ray, full‐field microscope with tomographic capabilities operating at 10 keV...
